WHAT: Two-Day Paddle on the Lackawaxen River – Inaugural Sojourn

Cost: $90/Day All-Inclusive (Rental or Livery, Food, Camping), $135 discount for both days

WHEN: October 12-13, 2024

WHERE: 

Day 1

  • Sycamore Point, Honesdale: Registration, Safety, Presentation
  • White Mills River Access Park: Lunch, Presentation
  • Hawley, Bingham Park & The Settlers Inn: Dinner, Program, Camping
    Approximately 11 miles, recreational river with some riffles and a sub-Class I rapid or two

Day 2

  • Zane Grey Museum, Lackawaxen: Breakfast, Registration, Presentation
  • Launch Location (Rowland Bridge):
  • Zane Grey Museum, Lackawaxen: Lunch, Program End
    Approximately 4.5 miles, with Class I and Class II+ rapids (raft only, provided by livery)

Contingency Paddle: If there is not enough water flow or Brookfield is unable to accommodate the release, we will paddle from Ten Mile River Access on the Delaware River to the Zane Grey River Access (approx. 6.5 miles w/ Class I and II+ rapids).

HOW: Public River Launches in Honesdale, White Mills, Hawley, Lackawaxen

Food – Lunch (2), Dinner (1), Breakfast (1), Snacks

Day 1:

  • Lunch: Watson Brothers Deli (Assorted Hoagies, Fruit, Chips, Assorted Beverages, Something Sweet)
  • Dinner: Grant’s Woods at The Settlers Inn (Burgers, Hot Dogs, Chicken, Salads, Fountain Drinks)

Day 2:

  • Breakfast: Scarfalotto’s Towne House Diner (Assorted Breakfast Sandwiches, Fruit, Assorted Pastries and Assorted Beverages)
  • Lunch: TBD (Assorted Hoagies, Fruit, Chips, Assorted Beverages and Something Sweet)

More:

  • Registrants will sign waivers and releases at registration on the day of the event.
  • Registrant must be 18 or older, or have parent/guardian permission and signature.
  • Ages 12 and older may paddle alone; under 12 must be in a tandem with an adult.
  • No participants under 40 lbs.
  • No open fires at camping areas, fires in designated areas only.
  • No alcoholic beverages permitted on any state, county, or municipal properties.
  • No glass on the river.
  • PFDs must be worn on, in, or near the water. Type III minimum.
  • No inflatable PFDs.
  • This event is in October; water and air temperature may be cold. Dress, plan, and pack accordingly.
  • Any special dietary needs or special accommodations must be emailed and approved at least one week before the event.
  • Walk-on registration (day of event) must arrive as early as possible to guarantee admittance. Email or call ahead to confirm space is available.
