Sojourn Cancelled

We regret to share that due to historically low river levels on the Lackawaxen, the sojourn scheduled for this weekend will have to be cancelled.

Without adequate precipitation, the conditions don’t allow for the safe navigation between our launch accesses. We greatly appreciate your interest in this first-ever event and look forward to when we can host a Lackawaxen River Sojourn in the coming year.
There are two options for refunds:
– Check (minus credit card processing fee)
– Donate to Lackawaxen River Trails to aid in more river access development
Please contact the Wayne County Community Foundation with your preference.
We still invite you to visit the communities along the Lackawaxen River this weekend as Honesdale hosts Harvest & Heritage Days Saturday & Sunday, and the Honesdale Beer & Wine Fest hosted by the Honesdale Rotary Club Sunday.
Also, Sycamore Point will be dedicated to the public on October 18th at 1pm and then a celebration at 3:30-6:30pm.
Back to the cancellation, Dan Corrigan of Northeast Wilderness Experience shared the following:
Use and purpose of these river access is not predicated on the ability to canoe or kayak down the river rather it is a public location to safely access the Lackawaxen River Corridor whether it be to walk your dog, sit and enjoy the views, fish, or simply dip your toes.
Our thanks to Dan and many others who committed to running this program and we look to them for next year’s sojourn! We hope you’ll join us!
